Teresa Baena's "Tokidoki" is a mockup of a branding proposal for a Japanese restaurant. The brief was asking to create something for a modern Japanese restaurant inspired by old Japanese traditions and culture.

I basically used Photoshop for the treatment of the illustration and the assembling of the mock ups, but the whole thing was first designed on Adobe Indesign. First step for me is always looking for inspiration and creating a moodboard, that helps me to develop the concept. After that, comes the researching part - to look for the assets that you need to develop the idea (typography, images, palette...)

Once you have your assets ready and only then is when the design process starts. I started creating the pattern and the logo, and then everything else came. The final step is creating the mock ups and the presentation.

I learned a lot on the researching process, trying to get the right illustrations that will serve the idea that I had in mind and that I could also use, because I don't illustrate and so I would say that the big challenge of this project was to be able to find the right images to work with.

The project is doing really well on the social media, I have got a lot of positive comments from people on Behance, and also a lot of repins on Pinterest as well as a mention from Adobe InDesign on Twitter. To be honest I am very happy and surprised with the results.

About Teresa Baena

"I don't really like to use to many tags to describe myself because I have so many interest but I will try my best here. I have been working on the advertising industry in NYC since 2013, as a Graphic Designer and junior Art Director. I am currently working for a production company as Graphic Designer. I have also made some works on the Fashion Industry as a producer on the Fashion Week in NYC during the past two seasons, this is a field that I feel passion about. My other big love photography, and although I haven't done any professional work on this matter, I spend a lot of my personal time learning and taking pictures of everything, all the time!"
