"Verbena, salt, concrete and etc" is a solo exhibition project made by Jing Qin. The solo exhibition which was showed in 1010 gallery in downtown, Knoxville before and has been featured by many medias, such as the Art magazine "New American Paintings" and interviewed by "Young Space".
The whole exhibition project contains 11 paintings from varies narrative.
The artist deliberately built a antagonistic narration by mixing elements from imagination, myths, fantasies to commonplaces of mundane world.

Jing’s works can be traced to a great of variety. She frequently incorporates references to the creative process, she absorbs the elements around her, like books, films, plants, patterns, and East Asian arts also plays an important role in her compositions as a result of she was born and grew up in China.

The works are made by oil paints primarily which gives rich colors tones and layers to the images. The initial idea of this idea came out as an exhibition concept. Exhibition on site allows audiences to see the work closely and make connections with the artworks.
However, the boundaries between illustration and painting are very vague now days because the technology totally changed the ways of how people looking at the images. Although, these works are made by artists' brushes in hands but they are documented by digital photography which can spread the pictures and reach their audiences through multiple medias. More and more people can view the artworks though online, magazines and other medias.

I received a lot of great feedback from audiences when the exhibition showed in the gallery. It is a nice way to meet and talk with people if you are showing in an art space. But actually I have received more feedback from people who saw my work online. Internet spread information so fast in these days. A lot of people saw my artworks from art websites, websites of art magazines, and curators' website that bring a lot of attentions to me. One stunning thing I learned from this project is never underestimate the value of internet. And, artist is not only showing with gallery anymore, the internet provides artists a lot of space and flexibility.
