Window lettering x PTNS by Zuzanna Rogatty

The lettering project by Zuzanna Rogatty was done for famous Polish Pan Tu Nie Stał clothing brand. Their store is full of great polish designs and is located in the city center of Warsaw. Zuzanna was asked to make a sign painting on front window at Christmas time. The sentence which she wrote is in Polish and it means something like “Merry Christmas” but in old style language.

I’m inspired by American sign painters. My dream is to take sign painting classes in Doc Gurthie’s LA Trade Technical College, or just travel to USA and learn from local painters. When it’s possible I take part in great workshops like calligraffiti with Drury Brennan and calligraphy with Brody Neuenschwander. I also watch closely signpainting, calligraphy and calligraffiti videos on youtube, you can learn much from these too! I also follow works of Calligraffiti Ambassadors who are my typographic heroes.

In their works I like the most flow and bounce and fun with making letters. Classic calligraphy is more boring, but still great to learn. Without calligraphy skills you just can’t make good calligraffiti.

So in this project I wanted to have fun. I made it with Pigma brushpen on the paper, then digitalized and transfered on this huge window with wide POSTER DopexRabeko pen and narrow UniPosca pen.

I love to experiment with every kind of pens and tools, I hate to do everything in the same way. The key to good calligraphy is guess what.. practice. You’ll never stop to learn, you can always do it better. So you must be patient 🙂
