Julien Boucher of Alibi Yachts "Yacht Trimaran" is a project that was initiated by Loïc Goepfert, naval architect, former trimaran racer and founder of Alibi Yachts, who wanted to bring racing innovations to cruising world. Taking advantage that sailing innovation hadn't progressed nearly as far as last years.

Foils , Automation, new materials, this giant leap created the most incredible racing vessels ever made, opening a way for bigger and faster cruisers. We believe that in the near future, sailing yachts should reach comfort and speed of powerboat's while offering incredible sensations to their owners by blurring line between racing and cruising. Smart boats controlled by electronics and sensors, as intelligent cars did, should provide safer traveling controlling boat path, sails and renewal energy resources.

Because this innovation gap between widely consummated product and boat industry is existing, we decided to work on it as prospective project. Above all, it should be incredible to sail such a yacht, blasting a 30Knots+, looking for remote islands with friends, chilling on outstanding loft while mooring!

Design was introduced in a structural way, efforts applied in such a yacht are gigantic so Loïc worked on structure and rules for this new design. It resulted a X arm design, slight hulls and ultralight platform. Then we started designing interior, keeping in mind melting together ultra comfortable loft and Racing trimaran. All the rest was a subjective question of style, we spend hours drafting together lines to find a good-looking shape, playing with structure and materials, keeping in mind performance and comfort ratio.

As background inspiration, we were immersed in A.I technologies, robot and drivelers cars from "Ex machina" film to the "Ehang drone" unveiled at the last CES. The idea was to bring back centuries of yachts traditions and lessons to the actual technological revolution. Style was ruled by design language we set up, it's developing navigation ergonomics on actual ecological and performance trends. Sailing is a very conservative sphere, that's not so easy to imagine other paradigm as Lucas Bassani or the "Maltese falcon yacht" did. That was a great opportunity to work in team with a free-thinker like Loïc.
