Black Box by Oskar Füleki

This project emerged from a 3D-Architecture Competition. The building was originally designed by Scheidt Kasprusch Architekten. Every participant of the competition was supposed to set the scene on a provided 3D model. The 3D model was provided by Oliver Wende. Read on and enjoy!

I named the project “Black Box” because I consider its basic shape as a dark box. When I saw the 3D model I decided immediately to put it in the forest. The inspiration for the sunset atmosphere came from a building in my home town which I drove by during sunset.

I started with the lighting of the scene. At first I created the daylight settings for the interior shots, after that the sunset atmosphere for the exterior shots. In general I work with Cinema4D and render with V-Ray. For scattering my objects I use Carbon Scatter. I was inspired by some architecture photos on Behance that showed the contrast between modern architecture and nature.

The major challenge was to find the right setting for the sunlight, as I wanted to see the reflection of the trees but not to cover up the sunlight. I only changed the color of the interior design. At first I wanted it to be dark, but then I changed it to a brighter tone.
