Urban visions are an idealization of the city and of its lines, its style, its architectural portraits.
Lines and profiles are altered and with a dynamism that reflects my concept of seeing the city from below.
The urban landscape is something that is benefiting in the streets, it is a scenario where people often play a role of mere extras in the lives of others, becoming like extras in a movie: they are just passing through, what remains is the landscape, the buildings, places, lights and shadows that define and characterize historical eras and thoughts.
The monumental buildings as static representation of the human, perhaps the real attempt to stop time through its places, the center in which people find security to be firm and to belong.
Perhaps it is this historical period, with small daily changes and no certainty, of an apparent dynamism that hides a stillness almost obvious, perhaps it is my state of mind that makes me feel like a needy individual curiosity for the environment he lives and directs his gaze at the corners that no one stops to look at it for granted. In this project the urban architectural landscape is for this revised, altered, deprived of its certainties.
It 'a visa down from the system, in the great flow of souls and bodies, observing the rooftops of the city, its windows, its very characteristic profile and its controversial similarities.
A reality that is reflected Suggesting to itself new forms and views.
New geometries without real physical mathematical duties, a suspension of what is "forced" heavily to the ground to get to the utopian dimension of the dream. Visions are perfect and unreal in this reality implied imperfect system.
much of this project was the love I have for the graphic design and minimalism.
Of course, in parallel with the discovery, on my part, of analogue photography and its potential.
This project stems initially from another, I wanted to describe the people at the time ....
some events of that period made me lose interest in people, so I opted for the buildings, and not any buildings, popular houses, skyscrapers, huge castings of cement almost repugnant, in the name of an expanding humanity and indoctrinated by a welfare state planner.
I wanted to describe totalitarianism, seeking the utopia in the reality of the past, I wanted to describe something unnoticed and repetitive.
that niche society on the periphery of the known.
i use only an medium format camera, 6x6 b/w film, a photographic enlarger, scanner for negative for digitalize the frame, photographic paper ?
Use occasionally even digital photography is not considering it in fact inferior to analog (joke, in my opinion is much lower), I consider it very practical and easy to use, cheap and fast.
when the digital use love to use programs like Photoshop or Lightroom to give more contrast or maybe give a filtering.
I do not know I think it would be possible 30-40 years ago, I think it's a little risky to believe that they actually communicate something to a mass culture saturated with images of all kinds.
I do not think i'm special, for me photography is only a means to communicate what I see, my research, my questions, my historical period.
I think however that my project is a good point of view for those who love traveling, who is fascinated by history and human anthropology.
I think may be interesting for those who have taste in design and architecture and who somehow happens to live in a few cities and is constantly surrounded by this kind of figures.
I hope will make you think for sure, but also just pleasure
