California Dreams is a series showcasing a vast, quiet landscape in a dreamlike sequence. The series documents a portion of our 11 day road trip in the United States. We covered 5 States in 11 days, and California was one. We took a map with us and just began driving. It was us, music (mostly Flight Facilities), the open road and the freedom to explore.
We had wanted to do a photography road trip for quite a while, so when the opportunity came up, we ran with it! We just began driving and stopping along the way to document our trip. We drove from Vancouver, BC through Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, and California. It was an incredible experience to see and document such a diverse landscape in 11 days.
Once we captured the images, we selected a series of images that tell the story of our trip. We then brought the images into photoshop for colour treatment. We wanted to showcase the landscape as is but set a mood to the images as we experienced it. After doing some colour corrections, we did a curves layer to add a bit more contrast to the images.
We love the response we receive in regards to our work. We are very humbled by the positive feedback and vibes. We love what we do, so we really appreciate it when we get positive reactions to our work.
This road trip was a life changing experience for both of us. It was the trip we needed to take together to bring clarity to our next steps individually and as a team.
