Cognizance Nutrition is a new brand offering supplements based on natural ingredients. The goal was to create fresh, good looking and kind of boutique store that'd fit target users preferences and reflect the brand's vibe.

Coming up with the design, We spent a lot of hours on discussions with the client - Misoneism Ltd. to make the final product looking like that. Initial brand's visual guidelines was already there which was helpful at the beginning but it didn’t give us final solution - was rather just rough directions.

At first the design was about to be very hermetic - the idea was to make it refering to FPS games like HALO, but we decided to make few steps backwards and make it looking modern but more clear for non-gamers customers.

Comparing to the other supplements web stores on the market the design we came up with is unique. Not only when it comes to the form, but in terms of content, too. In order to form we’re trying to make user focused on the products. On the homepage there is sort of "pick a character” looking thing which is the part of this game-inspired idea. As for the content there is no single photo of athletic looking people on the whole website (except blog which isn't exactly part of core store). We don't use this shiny, kinda cheap style webstie as well (which typical for this type of companies). Ovarall, it's different, because the brand's products are different.

I always try to make the design simple, effective and interesting at the same time. These are principles - style depends on current needs and I’d love not to have one. When it comes to inspirations - my idea here is to get inspired by anything but Web or UI. Designing interface being inspired by other interface is limiting. Why not to search for inspiration in single sound, colour or sentence. All of these can be used to create something new.

Stay open minded, but don't lose contact with the ground. After all it's the design, not the art.

  1. Awesome work. All I was thinking while scrolling through it was 'this is the kind of work I've always wanted to be able to make'. This is exactly the level of design I want to achieve. It's a great look for these products!
