Geometric Lights by Paulina Kochanowicz
The "Geometric lights" are lamps based on geometric shapes. It's a collection contains hanging, standing, night lamps, sconces, lamps that can function as a tables and so on. Read on and enjoy!
The story behind the Geometric Lights are pretty simple and straightforward. My husband is interested in science and some time ago I made for him small paper models of solids which helped him to explain patterns and thesis. I, personally like the most, those models which have symmetry in their shapes. Basically all those small models I've made were symmetrical. So while cutting paper and cardboard in various shapes, I was struck by the idea of using these shapes in the form of lamps. And this is a basic story behind my collection- Geometric Lights.

We are living in times where everything can be created in computer using various 3d programs, so to be honest, the only obstacle is our imagination ;-) The workflow of creating Geometric Lights was simple. Primarily I started to make some sketches and paper models and then modelled those lamps in 3d program to capture the final shape. As I am an interior architect, I quite easily designed few interior arrangements where I wanted to show my lamps and than I create visualizations which are now useful for preparation of a catalogue. We are still designing new interior arrangements to show that Geometric Lights are suitable for various interiors - classic, modern, minimalist, rustic.

After making visualizations there was a time to prepare a prototype. We made few paper models, than we chose materials and made prototypes.
And now it's time for implementation and release the collection on the market. There are always some challenges during new designs, and lamps in particular are challenging because these are products which require a power supply and have electrical components. So we constantly make mock-ups and prototypes checks to eliminate any faults. For now we have our Geometric Lights in few materials like concrete, solid black, tyvek, and this will be the first part of collection to launch but currently we are also designing versions of our lamps in various, fabulous colors :-)- Paulina Kochanowicz
