Hi, nice to meet you! Self-promotion by Ragne Balteskard

As a graphic designer straight out of school, I needed to make myself noticed. So by putting myself in a news-worthy format,
I could make it a play on me being "fresh off the press" and topical for the design studios I handed it out to.

New designers should be treated as good news. That was my first thought when I set out to design my own portfolio. In a field where most of us has a online portfolio and the easiest thing to do is send a link or a pdf, I wanted to make a little something extra to try and stand out from the crowd.

The thought about being new in the game, isn't always easy to handle. Lot's of competition and most of that competition has experience.
So with that in mind, I wanted to prove that it was a good thing being new and fresh, and straight out of design school. By putting myself in a newsworthy format, I could make it a play on me being both "fresh off the press", and most importantly topical for the design studios I handed it out to.

A newspaper is something most of us read to stay up to date on subjects we find interesting, and it's also something that often keeps laying around.
It was the ideal way for me to present myself as both a designer to keep an eye on and to stand out from the crowd.
