Hotel Vandivort Branding by Megan Heard

Branding takes on important responsibilities in the representation of not only the company but sometimes also the history of the place it is being built on. Today we feature a branding project by Megan Heard for Hotel Vandivort with a touch of the place's history. Read on and enjoy!

Located in the heart of Springfield Missouri, Hotel Vandivort will be the first centrally located hotel to tap into the unique walkability of Springfield’s arts, dining, and entertainment cultural hub. This upscale independent boutique hotel will focus on creating a truly unique local experience for its guests and patrons.

The hotel project includes a complete renovation of the historic 107 year-old Masonic Temple building, currently known as the Vandivort Center, along with a new 8,700 square foot addition to the north. Built as a masonic temple in 1906 the building is steeped in the rich history and tradition of the downtown community. Hotel Vandivort seeks to pair modern design and comforts with the building’s unique architectural character and extensive past. The building is on the National Register of Historic Places and is designated as a local historic site. The owners have partnered with preservation organizations to reclaim the building’s history and original beauty while creating a thriving social and hospitality venue.

Because of the building's unique history I decided to incorporate a series of masonic symbols throughout the identity as well as a timeline of the history of downtown Springfield and Vandivort Center. I felt that it was important to incorporate this throughout my design in order to give guests a more personal experience.
