Monocle #86 – Singapore Airlines are illustrations for Monocle‘s (a magazine briefing on global affairs, business, culture, design and much more) collaboration with Singapore Airlines. Seoul based illustrator Donghyun Lim tried to make the Singapore flight attendant, better known as Singapore Girl feel close with friendly facial expressions.
Cutting the detail of their uniform pattern was an important part of this project because the illustration style is simple. Singapore Girl itself was the inspiration for this project. The vivacious and various facial expressions and looks they have helped me through the project.
I think my style is characterized by soft and clean color palette and concise form. René Gruau’s graceful illustrations are always a great source of inspiration.
Taking a firm stand on your own style is good, but sometimes trying new things open a lot of doors for you. Don’t hesitate to open new door.
