Rocket Wagon Rebranding by Siyan Ren

The founder of the RWL, Mr Skylar Roebuck reached Siyan Ren, a freelance product designer from San Francisco at the mid July 2015 for a design service of his starting-up design agency. The agency, named Rocket Wagon Lab, which offers at every level of a product’s lifecycle from prototyping and finding product market fit to building a robust API for a global deployment that can handle 100K - 1M users every month. RWL can also create interactive and engaging experiences for brands and businesses. YAMA Design Lab will join this project as a third party design agency, which will provide design services as Branding Design, and follow-up web design.

I was lucky to live next to one of Zaha Hadid's epic work in Shanghai: Sky SoHo. The curves and lines resembling an alien spaceship can somehow resonate with Rocket Wagon literally. That is how i started jotting down this idea on the paper and then developed it to a simple, robust and curvy futuristic design.

The music also played a huge part of this project. I was loop all the albums of Plastikman. It was those minimal techno beats that reflected on the screen. I was just a medium.

Pen n paper for sketching any ideas. Canon 60D to capture any inspirations. Adobe CC and some Maya works.

I started with a meditation to see the vision and feel the vibe. Then i prepared a list of tunes and opened up my pinterest boards, which i pinned almost everyday. After that, just let the music do the job. Make sure you have a top-notch speakers.

Both me and clients were so happy about the outcome. That was what matter the most.

What i ve learnt the most is that do not seek for inspirations purposely. Procrastinate a little bit. Go jog at 2am. Watch some japanese hentai manga. And it will strike you all of a sudden during a chit-chat, afternoon nap or bedrock.
