White&Gray apartment by Joanna Szawłowska

White and Gray is a 50 m2 area apartment located in Poznan visualized by Joanna Szawłowska. The young owner wanted to have a cozy space for two people so, the designer planned a lounge and kitchen as an open space also limited objects and furniture, so the interior is more spacious and tidy.

I wanted to create an open area that combines living room and kitchen together. The investor's idea was to have some worktop near the window with stool in the kitchen area. He wanted to sit there in the morning - drinking coffee and reading news. There is also a small round table, which can be folded for some more guests. For the whole interior I used a combination of two colors: white and gray, because these can be easily mixed with any other color, like yellow or green etc., so the owner can add some color he likes or depending on his mood. To give it warm and cozy atmosphere I used rustic oak wooden floor.

One of the most important things in creating new space is to talk, collaborate with the owner, ask questions about their habits, needs, time organization, favorite colors, textures etc. Then I start with drawings, sketches and making 3d model. When everything is agreed upon, I create a documentation of the project, which contains every detail. Next step is for a construction/building crew.

The owner needs to feel good in his interior, this is very important. The guests or visitors may like it or not, but they don't spend as much time as the client.
