Gabriel Ramirez's Your Next Date is a dating website and also an app that brings users together in order to help them connect, encounter and communicate.. It all depends on you, if you want it to be just for drinks, discuss your mutual interests over dinner or even a long term relationship or maybe just a sham marriage (Hey, its cool, we are no one to be judgmental!)

It actually started as a task to apply for a job as a freelancer, the project eventually was dropped and left on “stand by” but I enjoyed the process of creating it so much that I decided to invest some more time on building its design and started exploring more ideas and seeing it from the user perspective even if I wasn’t so familiar with the whole dating apps scene. Therefore I was working on the whole design with such enthusiasm that I was eager to finish it.

I wanted to develop something entirely captivating, make it approachable and attractive for the audience without it turning into something complex. I know you may be thinking that using red as the color of choice isn’t such a risk since its often associated with love but in this case I chose to play that card in my favor and give it some sort of switch by creating a series of icons that provide an easier understatement of the web/app.

I was inspired by connectivity and the force of attraction but mostly: love, who doesn’t want a piece of that cake? Hopefully this app will help people in the quest to find what they’ve been looking for. Connectivity and the experience as a wholesome is what really matters to users in the end, by developing a fun and easy way to approach relationships we try to ease the complicated part of finding whatever you are looking for.

I'm inspired by those who manage to achieve the concept strongly and are capable of communicating their ideas to the maximum. I look up to Francesco Poroli, Paul Rogers, Pokras Lampas, Jean Jullien, Tommy Perez, among others, mostly because they succeed on their use of composition and the simplicity of their elements that are enough to give full meaning to their work. Im also very fond of the work that agencies like Heystudio, Bond or BP&O have achieved on the past years.

Trust your ideas, explore them and make them an extension of yourself, as an artist you should study and learn from what has been created before you, learn from those that inspire you. Have discipline and be very meticulous with the conceptualization of your work. These are the most important aspects of art, if your piece does not have a clever, strong and self-explanatory concept: it doesn’t matter how elaborate it is, it won’t communicate the way it should. Stay honest, question everything and remember «God is in the details».
