Iconic Sneakers
Iconic Sneakers is an ongoing personal illustration project featuring a collection of sneakers that are worn for daily commute, to performance ones for your favorite sport or even those that are used in movies. Above the sneaker is
a scene/moment framed in it's natural environment where it is being worn. Just like a looking into a memory or history of the sneaker.
Basically I love sneakers for it's culture, iconography and design. Just like everyone, I buy shoe and never really thought
of the work put into designing a sneaker until I started illustrating them. I notice the different silhouette, materials, texture and details applied to different sneakers.
I started illustrating a sneaker and thought that it will be fun to tell a story or capture a moment where the sneaker plays equally a big role as the person is wearing it.
Illustrator follow by Photoshop.
Vector illustration is that I really enjoy. It teaches me to see things in shapes, silhouette and value instead of lines.
My favorite illustrator is J. C. Leyendecker. I love the way he illustrator his character with a hard edge and I applied
it to most of work. I then bring the design into Photoshop to give it a semi realistic feel by painting in lights and shadows.
The respond was great from the design community on Behance. The work is now a feature in the illustration category.
I learned to pay attention to the details every sneakers have to offer whenever I walk into shop. I might not be able to afford expensive sneaker but it is equally awarding to use my design skills and style to illustrate them.
