Maritimes by Marie Sébire
Took the pictures of the series "Maritimes" during a 3 weeks road trip on the east coast of Canada (New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Nova Scotia). Photographer Marie Sébire has been wanting to visit these places for a long time and she loved this travel, the vast open spaces, the sea, the Acadia culture. Half of the time, the weather was grey. Not the best when you are on a low-budget and you go camping, but the result in photography is those big beautiful cloudy skies.
I wanted to transcribe the peaceful atmosphere of the places we visited. As I took the photos, I also paid a lot of attention to the lines, curves and symmetry. I like it when pictures have something graphic.

I want my pictures to tell a story. As a child (and even later), I have always wanted to be a journalist. I changed my plans for various reasons, but eventually, after 4-5 years as a professional, I am back to school to study photography. In a way, I'm getting back to my original idea.

My inspirations are my subjects. This is not obvious with this series of pictures because it's mostly landscapes, but the work I tend to develop is more about people. More precisely, I am currently working with a family of farmers. I am very interested in people's life and that's what I love with photography: you can easily get to the intimacy of people.

The advice I can give is to "Listen to yourself :) I used a Canon 6D + 24-105 mm for this photo series.
