Reunion is a set of stools inspired by the Cantonese cuisine sim sum, where steamer baskets are widely used to serve bite-sized snacks. The baskets are usually stacked together, and later carted around in trolleys restaurant. Likewise, these stools can be arranged atop one another when not in use, making it versatile and space-savvy piece.

Each of the three comes in different height and colour. The upholstered seat features a storage space underneath and can be flipped over to serve as a side table. Also inspired by the social culture of “yum cha” ( Drink Tea ) – which involves drinking tea and eating dim sum ( Snacks ) – Reunion is intended to encourage the gathering of family and friends

Reunion stools was shortlisted for a competition in Beijing. They are first 3D modelled in Rhinoceros. Thereafter i approached several local craftsmen in Taiwan and i was turned down by a few of them because they find it quite complicated. The craftsmen are aged between 70-90 and i finally convinced one craftsmen to do the job for me. The upholstery was done on my own and then finished off with some spraying.

People love the idea behind the stools and they were featured in Squarerooms Magazine.
Some design and numerous design websites also approached to feature these sets of stool. Currently Exhibited in Beijing. I had learned to communicate and convince the craftsmen as i am not really fluent in my mandarin. Along the way i am thankful for some of my colleagues and friends who helped me along by giving me some tips on how to improve my designs. The key to not over design!
