Inspired by the  cosmic and quirky architecture of the  Soviet period, the  Svezda  lamp (star in Russian) embodies the Spatial adventure utopia, the cult of light and, the attraction for Cosmos. This retro-futuristic construction seems like a satellite, conquering your living room.

Thanks to the discovery of Frédéric Chaubin's photographic work – a repertoire of architectural curiosities from East bloc – the idea of this project came to me. .

The copper lampshade is first made by laser cutting and is then folded. Some notches will make the assembling and dissembling easy to clean the set.

The fiber-reinforced concrete base is flowed in a handmade wood mold.

Yoann Keignart

Freelance designer based in Saint-Etienne (France), I create furniture, lamps and objects, I'm also a freelance illustrator. I'm the founder of the self-publishing house Nobilem ac Novum, in collaboration with David Tisserand.

My artistic research explores a wide reference field, sometimes even far from the design sphere. A picture, a detail, a myth, an historical event… anything can lead to a new project hatching, whether it’s furniture or objects. My inspirations take mainly place in the History of architecture, in some architectural techniques and also through the study of ancestral civilizations. I place the story and the meaning at the heart of my creations.
