Travel photography: Italy by Lina Skukauskė
These travel shots by Lina Skukauskė from Italy are a personal project- they were taken on her honeymoon trip in Tuscany region of Italy. There was no serious plan or topic for this project- all Lina wanted was to soak in new scents, views and sounds & tell stories about her experience via images. She used to wander in (still) empty towns during early hours and enjoy gorgeous Italian sun during the days. In trips like these life is simply just so good and beautiful and you want to capture those memories.
When I work for clients I often plan a lot, have a quite precise vision of what I want and what client needs, photos are mostly styled & not that spontaneous, so my travel photography is always very freeing & relaxing- I just follow my curiosity and photograph what I find inspiring & beautiful. No matter the type of work I do my style is quite natural & relaxed, even when I style things I try to capture settings that look like moments from real life, something inspiring, aesthetic, but still relatable and realistic.

Personally I find life to be really beautiful & magical (whether it's nature, everyday moments or products created by talented people) and I want to capture and share this with the world. I come from the background of graphic design, so I also find lots of inspiration in unlimited possibilities to edit images and add that special touch via light & colors.

I would always suggest to aspiring artists to experiment a lot & to follow your curiosity. Honor your uniqueness- it's OK to be attracted to certain things and not be good at everything. Knowing yourself and what you like and working on projects that really inspires you leads to wonderful results. I believe that art/creativity (even when it is used for commercial purposes) shouldn't be forced, it should light you up and feel authentic. So go and explore and share YOUR vision with the world.

Regarding the gear for this project- I used my Canon 5D Mark III with Canon EF 16-35mm f/4 L IS USM, Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II (I normally use Sigma 50mm f/1.4 DG HSM Art for 50mm, but this small Canon lens is one of the best & lightest lens to take if you're afraid to ruin/loose your good gear during traveling) & Canon EF 100mm f/2.8L Macro IS USM lenses.
