BAR 72 is a non stop electronic music stage for 72 hours at Bánkitó festival, Hungary. Our goal was to create a minimal identity which reflects on infinite partying. The identity is designed by different artist each year, the only fixed element is the logotype, which I designed a few years ago. The most important thing was to create a logo which works mainly on printed materials.
At the beginning we decided to design a very simple logo which can be the base of the identity, try to keep almost everything open. The stage plays mostly deephouse and techno music, so we were sure about black and white combination. Since the festival is a non-profit event organised by volunteers the production price is very important. One color printing became very handy, especially at the screen printed shirts.
Basically I used Adobe programs (Illustrator, Indesign, Photoshop) and silk screen print. We did most of the elements ourselves.
At the beginning I always start from sketch, I like to see all elements together, how it will appear on different surfaces.
As far as I know the project was successful, people liked it, I got positive feedback. All the artists, friends and Dj’s still like to wear the shirts, its always nice to see your work again and again. It was a nice challenge to create a project which is affordable for a festival which was never sponsored by big brands.
