The project Capture Kenya 2016 was commissioned by Kenya’s leading Telco company Safaricom entitled "Capture Kenya" which hand-selected 3 photographers each with their protégé Photographer, Producer, Blogger (to document the journey) and a Driver/Location Scout. They were sent to the different parts of the country with a brief; entitled "This Is My Kenya" for a period of 10 days. Let's check out this beautiful art set and see Kenya on a different view. Enjoy!

After the 10 days, we all submit our images which are then shortlisted and presented to the CEO who selects the final 12 images for the calendar. I was assigned the coastal part of Kenya and the images you see are some of the images that I captured during that period.

The project has been the brainchild of Safaricom for the 3rd year running. I have been fortunate to take part in the last 2 expeditions.

I was shooting on a Canon 5D Mk II camera. I used one lens all through 17-40mm L. For lighting I had the Profoto B3 Pack and the Elinchrom 150cm Octa as my only modifier. This assignment dictates that you be as light/portable as you can and my setup was indeed powerful enough when shooting outdoors in bright sunlight. For editing I used Lightroom and Photoshop.

Whenever I am asked to give advice, it always boils down to Style. Define your own Style, Voice and Signature in your work. This does not come easy at all but requires research and practice. Never be scared to experiment.
