This is a school project from one of my courses. Students were asked to design a modular product with logo and stationary design. Therefore, I came up with an idea to create a set of modular table mat. festa is modular table mat system which allows for endless combination of shape, size, and arrangement to fit all occasion.

We have so many kinds of plates and bowls in our daily life and they have different kinds of shapes. Some of them are bigger, some of them of smaller and some of them are designed with organic shapes. Therefore, in order to make the table mats accommodate to different kinds of containers, I came up with this modular table mat set. The idea is very easy but it does solve a big problem in our life.

The table mat is made of Ebony wood, cherry wood, and oak wood.
festa logo is designed with warm colors since people always connect these kind of colors with foods.
I named my brand festa because I hope my festa table mats can delight people's daily life and turns every meal into a happy feast.

I design the logo and table mat's die-line with Illustrator.

The process was like 1. Came up a modular product 2. Named the product 3. Drew the sketches of logo and product 4. Digitalized them 5. Refined the logo with computer and make prototype 6.Finalized logo and product making

Most of my friends and professor give me positive responses.

Actually, at that time, model making was something new for me since my undergrad major was commercial design and I used to do graphic design before. I learned A LOT from this project such as using wood stain, laser cutting, and model making. Except the hand-making skills, I also learned about how to adjust the details of the typography and some naming skills. (Naming skill is also very new and interesting for me because English is not my first language.)
