Before going to develop a new design for a mobile device, let’s the Fontsetter Typeface App. It helps you for: 1. To Get the optimal typefaces combination for the title and the text block. 2. To check the typeface size on the mobile device screen. 3. To get the perfect leading space. 4. Compare how the Text paragraph look like on the white background and on dark background.

I called it Font Tester. It’s a very simple utility for designers. Almost in every project, what we do need to create a visual style for Text Block. Every time we want to do something new and interesting. Fonttester can help us with that. For overview screen we have two objects — the "Title" and "Body text". For each of them we can set the Typeface (we have standard iOs and Android typefaces in the list), Font size, and Font Leading (distance between the baselines of successive lines of type). We can try different combinations and choose the best one. The text values we can see on the information panel. We can use it in Photoshop or illustrator or give it to developers.

Actually, the design of interface itself is very simple. I have used 4 columns grid to build the interface of the Overview screen - clean and readable typeface, complementary colours. Honestly speaking, I spend more time for identity stuff (background with 3d letters, animated user guidelines and redlines for developer.)

No inspiration there, banal need to simplify my work. If we're talking about UX I think the main feature of this app is its ease of use. One finger, swipe Up, down, left, right and that's all. Simple.

  1. It seems like sometimes you can go overboard with a design, even for a font. This MIGHT be one of those times. I prefer to keep designs simple and to the point.
