"Inspiration is everywhere" photographer Madelene Farin said. For this project, it was on her shelves and her pantry. Madelene was simply organizing and clearing things out, and the light around her was so beautiful. She took the opportunity to shoot what she saw.

The wonderful thing about natural light is that it is constantly changing. The mood of an image can shift within seconds, going from hard to soft. On this particular day, I took advantage of the sun being out, and how it created strong shapes and shadows through my window.

My style ranges, and truly depends on the purpose of each project. I'm not sure I can define it. With that said, the work I enjoy creating the most are those in which all my favorite things are at play - light, color, form, and texture. I also try to make sure all my photographs carry some emotional value, which is not always easy with food and still life.

One big inspiration for me is Dietlind Wolf. She is a multidisciplinary artist in Germany, who works in art direction, ceramics, photography, styling, etc. She has a unique sensibility and the ability to showcase common objects in very creative ways. I've been following her work for a long time.

I believe that natural, raw talent exists, but the truly successful artists are the ones who put in the time, self-assign, and really just practice their crafts for years and years. Be diligent. For this project I used a Canon 5D Mark III + 50mm lens. I photographed in natural light, and used Capture One and Photoshop for capture, post-processing, and retouching.
