The Redesign of the Legendary 'BACK to BLACK' Record Cover of Amy Winehouse

I had a chance to take part in the project of Depositphotos "REimagining record covers". The idea was to reimagine all-time legendary record covers, to show the connection of the past and the present. Young creatives, 19 artists from all over the world who work in different styles and techniques, had a chance to show their vision in 2017. I was working over the cover "Back to Black" of brilliant Amy Winehouse.
I started my work on the creative idea of the cover from listening over and over the Amy’s album Back to Black. It was easy to get started with a sketch like that. And after I have finished the cover, her songs didn’t leave me for a while. Amy’s music helped me find an understanding of what the album cover should look like.
I have chosen the colors for the illustration appropriate to the name of the album.
The process didn’t take me too long. I have been creating the cover for one day, and another day I have been upgrading it to the final image. The vision and the idea came to me easily because I was inspired by Amy's musical creativity. I have started with the pencil sketch, then finished the illustration in the Illustrator. I think that her album could have the cover like that in the times of Art Deco was popular.
Previously I didn’t have an aim to create the cover of some album. But I always wanted to create an illustration in my unique style for some celebrity. Thanks to Depositphotos project I've got this opportunity. I like the actual process of creating illustrations, when you have just the idea, inspiration and desire to create something new, up to date.
I am proud and happy that I could bring to life what I planned. I won’t be ashamed to show this a cover to Amy Winehouse.
