Wolves + Vultures project is part of a broader personal project called Animal Lectures where fine art photography production meets theater by the artist Andrew McGibbon. He invited an audience into the studio to watch the photo shoot. The artist, along with the animal coordinator Trevor Smith of Animals Work, both speak to the audience about the animals and photography. All the colors and smoke in the images was actually there and has not been added afterwards. For the artist, the creation process is just as important as the finished product and by inviting people in to witness the art and to meet the animals, he is confident that he is reinforcing the ideas that he is trying to get across. Read more about this art set and be amazed! Enjoy!

It took only one day to finish the project.

Behind my art is a determined drive for conservation, a topic that we should all care very deeply about. I have been interested for awhile about the growing disconnect between human civilization and the wild.

I used a Canon 5Ds and profoto lighting equipment. The colour comes from gels placed in front of my lights. I also had two low fog smoke machines on set. I use Adobe Photoshop for clean ups and cropping.

It's good to emulate the style of others. Once you master certain technical aspects, your own personal vision and aesthetic sensibilities will enable you to create unique work.

Let’s celebrate the natural world, cherish it and work for it. Don’t sit by and watch people ruin the environment - tell them of it’s beauty, show them it’s glory. And for yourself, get out of the city, build a fire, climb a mountain. Rekindle your intrinsic connection with the biosphere.

We are wild. We are nature.
