This Foggy Nights series is gathered at nightly rowing and fishing trips. Usually, fishes stayed in the water tough :) In autumn the nights are bit chillier and darker, so there's a lot of fog sometimes, and also the stars are visible and looking amazing. Since every night is different and the view changes, I usually photograph the same islands many times. There's nothing special behind these pictures. Just rowed to the waterfront and pointed the camera toward a lake or a swamp. Nowadays the technology is so advanced so it's possible to disclose many details. It's so interesting to take photos in pitch-black and see the results from the camera. I have plans for excursion destinations for winter. Aiming to shoot northern lights, of course.

I appreciate distinctiveness and artistry in photographs, which I try to capture in my photos. My personal favourite time to photograph is summer nights when everything looks so different, where you can find unique atmospheres, this is something I want to show in my work. Usually I don't plan my pictures and what i'm going to photograph, I just like to travel and immortalise the moments.

When I started photographing, I found Finnish photographers Kai Fagerström and Heikki Willamo, whom pictures with amazing foresty atmosphere impressed me. Their photos have a huge impact on my work. From other Finnish photographers I could also mention Joni Niemeläinen, Mikko Lagerstedt and Mika Suutari, whom work I follow.

A lot of patience is needed to photograph stars and night skies. Sometimes it may be smart to go there beforehand and seek for places where to take photos. It doesn't really matter what camera you're using, but with a full frame camera you can set ISO high enough. It keeps shutter speed low. I, myself, use Canon EOS 6D.

So in night skies, like in general photographing, the most important thing is to do exactly what you want to and also to photograph for your own delight. This way your own style is created. Although it's no harm to be inspired by someone. They can expand the vision.
