Each composition, from the very roughs to the photo treatment, took two days, basically, one week to finish everything. I used Unipin and Pigmabrush pens and watercolors for the art of Chefs and food, media was my personal sketchbook, this one pictured. I also used real food and spice to set up each composition. Pictures were done with a 7.2 MP camera, Adobe Photoshop for digital treatment.

The idea for this project initially came from the fact I'm a big fan of the show and the chefs, each one has a very well defined personality and cooking style, so I decided to pinpoint this by this interaction between drawing, objects and environment via photography, something I like doing in some works.

I always tell people to try out things and test something new, new techniques and such, in order to be more creative. Basically I tell them to invent things, so you can explore your artistic identity, your "brand".

ABOUT RICARDO LIRA

Ricardo Lira is a 26-year old Illustrator from Brazil. He graduated in Graphic Design and has worked as an Art Director for advertising, but this wasn't his strongest game, he wanted to make the difference in a more "fun" way. He's a fan-art lover geek, he loves depicting a view of characters with his personal touch. He doesn't explore creating too much, but rather enjoy transforming and transmitting an emotional feeling with the drawing. His goal today is to establish himself as an independent Illustrator and grow even more. He likes starting his pieces with pen and paper, and then use other stuff; like watercolors, inks, and even digital, to compliment the works - always with a slight touch of fun and nostalgia.
