Memory by Giulia Airoldi
Milan based illustrator Giulia Airoldi was asked to make these illustrations "Memory" for a memory app game for kids. The memory includes six cards describing "future jobs". Giulia developed it with Ben Savage, who's programming the game, they just started to collaborate and soon they'll gonna make some more new projects! So, let's see what they got for us!
When I think about the style, I decide to keep it simple and immediate. I start by coloring the background to make it more lively and help little kids to remember the cards. Usually I don't use high saturated colors but it was fun this time. I drew very simple characters because of the small size of the cards, but at the same time the work had to be immediately understandable.

Usually when I start drawing a character I sketch it quickly with my tablet and then I define the lines and shapes with colors... so sometimes even I don't know how the character will be until I finish. I always try to convey the atmosphere with colors and simple shapes.

I can make a very long list of my favorite artists...certainly my favorite one is Pascal Campion, but I love also Mike Yamada, Britney Lee, Bobby Pontillas and Olivers jeffers for his children's book.

I know it has been already said, but the best way to improve your style is to keep drawing, especially for yourself. It's also good to share your work on social networks and ask opinions and feedback of other artists and illustrators, without being discouraged by what they could say or how good they are!
