Mohamed Ramadan's modern apartment definitely embodies its name. A modern room with a minimalist and aesthetically pleasing design that will be used as a leisure area in a basement floor of private house in Cairo, Egypt. This space will be used as a reading area, gaming, dining area and relaxing space.

This project modern apartment came about after meeting the client. After knowing their needs (the purpose of the room, vibe) I started to implement it into a concept which is to divide the 72 m2 space into 3 areas of different activities. Namely, the reading area, tv and gaming area along with the dining area. The main objective of the project was to design a modern space depending on the daylight and using cozy and simple materials as to make the room feel warm and inviting.

The use of natural materials like wood and marble and the concrete wall covering is a trial for making a link between the outdoor and indoor. These materials also contributed in creating a modern look for the apartment while maintaining its elegance and its aesthetic look.

My advice to artist or inspiring artist like me is to focus and work hard. Love what you do and you'll never get tired of doing it. Most especially, be yourself!

Mohamed Ramadan is a young architect and interior designer from Cairo, Egypt, living in Milano, Italy doing his master degree. He got his bachelor degree in architecture and design in 2010.
